Reinventing Globalization: The 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative
"Globalization" is at a crossroads. On one hand, the old core-periphery model of globalization is declining as political crises intensify within Western nations, with various protectionist policies steering the world towards a deglobalized future. On the other hand, the Global South, represented by the BRICS countries, is striving to reduce its dependence on Western nations in terms of technology, currency, security, and supply chains, and to foster a more inclusive international political and economic order. This new global order is inextricably linked to the "Belt and Road" Initiative. Over the past decade, through the concerted efforts of China and the countries along the route, a new,world-class trade and investment network is taking shape, laying the material groundwork for a multipolar, inclusive future of globalization. As we mark the 10th anniversary of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, it is imperative to reflect on past experiences and, from a deeper strategic perspective, consider how China should engage in the restructuring of a new international order.
