The Evolution of the International Order Underlying the Trump Corollary

BCR: Let us begin with recent developments. Although the Trump administration increasingly disdains disguising its actions, his supporters and proxies continue to employ weaponized humanitarian rhetoric—for instance, Machado vigorously extolled the US "kidnapping" of Maduro as a contribution to "the freedom of the Venezuelan people."

Xiuyuan Research Center
Research Center
In collaboration with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Germany, the center published “Debating Chinese Socialism” (German edition).

As the organizer of the BeijingCultural Review, the Beijing Xiuyuan Economic and Social Research Foundation is committed to establishing cultural autonomy, a value system, and a discourse system for Chinese society, and is dedicated to building a high-end platform-oriented civil think tank.

The research directions of the center include political economy and cultural construction, technological change and social structure transformation, development strategies, and institutional reforms, among others. To date, over 250 research projects have been conducted, with some key projects leading the way in thought and culture, as well as in national governance practices. The research model is divided into two categories: independent research and commissioned projects.

The Xiuyuan Foundation Research Center boasts a robust community of authors and scholars, most of whom are researchers from universities or scientific institutions. They are in their prime, with ample time and energy to dedicate to research, and possess rich investigative experience. They have achieved significant accomplishments in fields such as history, political science, sociology, law, and many others. The team has a solid foundation, strong theoretical expertise, and extensive connections with government institutions.

From 2013 to 2023, the center completed multiple research reports, including “Historical Perspectives and Methodology in a Changing World,” “The Mass Line: A Practice of People's Democracy Moving Toward the 21st Century,” “Socialism 3.0,” “Global Party Politics in the Context of Technological Change,” “Mastering Capital: The Political Economy of Socialist Market Economy,” and “The Beijing Winter Olympics in a Changing Global Landscape,” which have gained recognition from research institutions both within and outside the system.

International Cooperation
Tricontinental Social Research Institute: Co-published Issues of Cultural Perspectives (in English, Spanish and Portuguese)
Rosa Luxemburg Foundation: Selected Excerpts from Each Issue of Cultural Perspectives (in English)

Beijing Cultural Review is committed to overseas dissemination, aiming to break the monopoly of Western discourse and convey to the world the profound reflections and unique theoretical perspectives of Chinese academia on global issues. In collaboration with the Tricontinental Institute, we have launched a special bilingual series in English, Spanish, and Portuguese to systematically translate and introduce the research achievements of Chinese intellectual circles. Seven issues have been published to date.

Furthermore, we regularly engage in academic exchanges with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. These practices not only build bridges for inter-civilizational dialogue but also translate Chinese theories into a discourse system understandable to the international community, injecting Eastern wisdom into global knowledge production and promoting the construction of a more diverse and equitable international public opinion sphere.

In 2025, the “Global South and Southeast Asia” Forum was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Co-organized by the Beijing Xiuyuan Economic and Social Research Foundation, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Indonesia, the Institute for a Community with Shared Future for Mankind at the Communication University of China, and the Shanghai Chunqiu Development Strategy Research Institute, and hosted by the Global South Network (GSN), the forum aimed to foster in-depth dialogue among the intellectual circles of Global South countries.
